Special needs

Persons living with a disability

Accessibility to all services and every day needs such as public transport, grocery stores, work places, events, religious place of worship, government buildings and more is absolutely necessary and under valued. More day centres offering education, events, arts and culture, support, resources, and respite from isolation are greatly lacking and can change someone’s life for the better if available.

There are not enough educational or therapeutic resources for those with special needs, nor is there a system in place that allows for every caretaker to access respite so they themselves remain healthy mentally and physically for their difficult and exhausting role. Some special needs individuals require constant attention and assistance. A way to facilitate this is to have enough schools and facilities that provide the tools for them to learn, achieve and further themselves at their level. Even the smallest step is a move forward in the right direction. More funding, research, support, awareness, and compassion are needed before any change can take place.
